DAY 01: ARRIVE DELHI
Arrive Delhi by International flight (Rooms to be provided with immediate occupancy)
On arrival you will be welcomed with garlands at the airport and transferred to the Hotel.
DELHI
There have been at least eight cities built over the millennia around modern New Delhi, the capital of India. Standing on the west bank of the Yamuna river at the narrowest point between the Aravallis hills and the Himalayas, for over 2,000 years Delhi has commanded the strategically vital route from the Northwest frontier to the agriculturally rich Ganga plains. Former Sultans have left their lasting mark in the Qutab Minar complex, while Old Delhi, Emperor Shah Jahan’s 17th century capital, retains a flavour of its atmospheric past.

DAY 02: DELHI / GWALIOR
Breakfast at Hotel.
Transfer to Railway station to board Shatbdi Express for Gwalior.
Shatbdi Express leaves at 0600 Hrs.
Arrives Gwalior at 0918 Hrs.

GWALIOR
Gwalior is famous for its old and very large fort. Within the fort walls are several interesting temples and ruined palaces. The dramatic and colorful history of the great fort goes back over 1000 years.
Visit the Gwalior Fort with its temples and palaces. Also, take a tour of the Jai Vilas palace and Museum inhabited by the present Maharajah.

DAY 03: GWALIOR / KHAJURAHO
Breakfast at Hotel.
Later drive for Khajuraho.
KHAJURAHO
Khajuraho was built by the Chandela dynasty, which rose to power in Central India between the 10th and 11th centuries and is home to some 25 odd temples depicting the different facets of life, including the erotic. These erotic carvings on some panels have given rise to much speculation since Khajuraho’s rediscovery by a British officer in 1838. To preserve it for posterity, Khajuraho has been declared a World Heritage Site and is among the prominent destinations on the world tourism map.

DAY 04: KHAJURAHO
Breakfast at Hotel.
Full-day visit to the western and eastern group of temples. Among the western group of temples, the most famous is the Kandariya Mahadev temple, 32 meters high with a fantastic range of sculptures including sensuous themes. Other temples include the Chaunsat Yogini, which is a granite temple, the Devi Jagdambe temple dedicated to the Mother Goddess, the Chitragupta temple, dedicated to Surya the Sun God, etc.
The eastern group of temples includes both Hindu and Jain temples. The largest and finest of the Jain shrines is Parsvanath temple. Also see Adinath temple, Ghantai, Vamana temple etc.

DAY 05: KHAJURAHO / ORCHHA
Breakfast at the hotel.
Later leave for Orchha
ORCHHA
Orchha, 26 km from Jhansi, is a medieval city founded in 1531 by the Bundela rulers along the Betwa River. The hand of time has rested lightly on this medieval city; its palaces and temples of the 16th and the 17th century are remarkably well preserved. Orchha is a perfect example of a medieval fort palace. Within the turreted walls are gardens, gateways, pavilions and temples. The view across the palaces with their chhatries and ornamental battlements is enchanting. (Only vegetarian meal will be provided in Orchha).

DAY 06: ORCHHA / JHANSI / BHOPAL

Later drive to Jhansi to connect train to Bhopal
Leave Jhansi by Shatabdi Express at 1032 hrs
Arrive Bhopal at 1405 hrs.

Madhya Pradesh has an illustrious past, forested sanctuaries, temple towns and fortified settlements. Bhopal, its capital, a modern city with two lakes, is situated against the background of hills that give it a salubrious climate. Bhopal is growing because of its pleasant climate and, in recent years, has staked its claim on the country’s industrial map with the growth of two industrial towns in its precincts, Mandideep (18 km) and Govindpura (9 km). Bhopal was the only principality ruled by noblewomen for long periods, who contributed to the city’s architecture, more notably its mosques.

DAY 07: BHOPAL

Later visit Bhopal enroute visiting Sanchi and Udayagiri.
The Grand Stupa built by Ashoka at Sanchi is focal point of a 91 –meter-high turf covered and tree-dotted hill and marks an important stage in the evolution of Indian architecture. The great Stupa is 36.5 meters in diameter and rises almost 16.5 meters high. A balustrade encircles the entire structure and provides incarnations as Bodhisattva have provided the principal inspiration for the artists.
Udayagiri caves were produced during the regime of Chandragupta II (382-401). The caves have all distinct features that gave Gupta art its unique vitality, vigor and richness of expression. The beautifully molded capitals, the design of the entrance gateway and the system of continuing the architrave as a string course around the structure.

DAY 08: BHOPAL / INDORE

Later drive to Indore enroute visit Bhojpur Temples.

Indore
Indore is called the “mini Mumbai” of India. A town that has seen rapid growth in the last 10 years. It is an important business and industrial centre. Areas like Pritampura, the third largest industrial belt in Asia, and Dewas, where major factories such as those of the Tatas, Kirloskars, S. Kumars, Ranbaxy and others are located. In Pritampura are Hindustan Motors, Bajaj, Indo Rama Synthetics, Eicher and other heavy and light automobile industries. Apart from its industrial importance, Indore is the gateway to Ujjain and Omkareshwar, both having ancient Hindu temples. The importance of Indore as a growing city can be assured by the fact that the airlines have started flying into the city recently. Large-scale work is being carried out at Indore airport.

DAY 09: INDORE - MANDU

Mandu
Mandu, 285 kms away, is an important center of architecture. A former royal city, it is rich in monuments built around water tanks. In the monsoon, Mandu’s magic is spellbinding. The architecture in Mandu is predominantly in the Indo-Islamic style, right from Dilawar Khan's period till the Mughal rule. The fort continued to be ruled by Mughals till the early part of 18th century when it passed into the hands of the Marathas in 1732 after the Mughal hold weakened when the capital of Malwa was shifted back to Dhar and Mandu became a ghost town. Despite being abandoned for the past four centuries, there is enough romance in the ruins to capture the imagination of the visitor.

DAY 10: MANDU - MAHESHWAR

Early Morning drive to Maheshwar.
Maheshwar was a glorious city in the dawn of Indian civilization when it was known as Mahismati, capital of King Kartvirarjun. This temple town on the banks of the river Narmada finds mention in the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.Meheswar’s temples stand high with spires reaching out to the sky. Their balconies and carved doorways are a sight to behold. Temples to visit are Kaleshwara, Rajarajeshwara, Vithaleshwara and Ahileshwar temples.

DAY 11: MAHESHWAR - OMKARESHWAR - JALGAON

Early Morning drive to Jalgaon enroute visiting Omkareshwar.
Omkareshwar
This holy island is shaped likethe sacred Hindu symbol "OM". Here the Narmada and the Kaveri rivers meet and the pilgrims gather at the confluence in large numbers to pay obeisance before the Joytirlanga (one of the twelve Joytirlangas at the Temple of Shri Omkar Mandhata).

DAY 12: JALGAON - AJANTA - AURANGABAD

Early Morning drive to Aurangabad enroute visiting worls famous UNESCO Ajanta Caves.
Ajanta Caves
The Buddhist caves of Ajanta lying 166 km northeast of Aurangabad date from 200 BC to 650 AD. The 30 rock-hewn caves are adorned with sculptures and frescoes, portraying in epic form the religious and secular life through eight centuries. Many of the caves house panels depicting stories from the Jatakas, depicting Buddha’s previous births. It is a World Heritage site.

DAY 13: AURANGABAD - Full day Escursion to World Famous Ellora UNESCO site

Ellora
Caves of Ellora, another World Heritage site, are carved into the side of a basaltic hill 30 km from Aurangabad. The finest specimens of cave-temple architecture, they encompass 34 rock-cut shrines representing Buddhist, Jain and Hindu art dating from the 4th to 5th century AD. The 12 caves to the south are Buddhist, the 17 in the centre Hindu, and the 5 caves to the north are Jain. The most remarkable is the Kailash temple, meant to be a replica of Shiva’s celestial abode Mt.Kailash. It is the best example of rock cut architecture and an engineering marvel.

Morning Visit Elephanta Caves and Gateway of India.
Elephanta Caves
The island of Elephanta is an hour away from Mumbai by motor launch. The cave temples here were excavated between the 5th and 8th centuries AD are famous for their magnificently sculpted panels. The best known is the one that depicts the Maheshmurti – a three – headed image of Lord Shiva, which signifies the creator, preserver and destroyer of this universe as per Hindu mythology. The Portuguese named this island after a large stone elephant that was found near the landing. The elephant now stands at the Victoria and Albert Museum on the mainland.
