ITINERARY

Day 01 : ARRIVE KOLKATA

Meet and Assist at Aiport and Transfer to the Hotel

Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 02 : KOLKATA

Breakfast at Hotel

Morning sightseeing of Kolkata visiting Victoria Memorial ,Panoramic Tour of Colonial area of Kolkata ,Mother House ,Kali Temple,

Afternoon visit Flower Market and return back to Hotel.

Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03: Board on flight for Dimapur on arrival Drive to Kohima (70 kms / 2 ½ hrs)

Arrive Dimapur by air. On your arrival meet your guide and drive towards Kohima – the capital of Nagaland and the home of Angami Naga tribe. On arrival check into hotel. Overnight.

 

Day 04:Full day Kohima(Hornbill Festival)

This morning we shall visit and photograph one of the most fascinating festivals of Nagaland – the Hornbill festival, where the various tribes of Nagaland get together to showcase their customs and traditions. Spend entire day spent at Kisama village – the location of Hornbill Festival.

Evening we shall visit the Hornbill Night carnival (timing 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM). Colorful stall adored with sparkling lights, each one has something unique to offer.

Return to hotel and overnight.

It was in the year 2000, the State Government of Nagaland desirous of promoting tourism embarked upon an ambitious project to exploit the cultural assets of Nagaland, through a weeklong festival to coincide with the celebrations of Nagaland Statehood Day on 1st December. Thus the inception of the Nagaland Hornbill Festival is so named is collective reverence to the bird enshrined in the cultural to espouse the spirit of unity in diversity. Today this festival has become one of the largest celebrations of the indigenous warrior of Nagaland, where thousands of tourists from different counties are being attracted. Even if tremendous modernity have entered into their lives, but the well preserved rich tradition, their unique heritage and customs, legacy, are being displayed in this 10 days converge of  cultural, dance and sporting bash.

Day 05:Kohima – Kaziranga National Park (240 kms / 6 hrs)

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards Kaziranga National Park – the home of the world famed one horned Rhino. On arrival check into hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 06: Kaziranga

Early morning we shall go for an elephant ride - Elephant ride is the best way to behold the vigour and charm of the enchanting wildlife of the park. Return to resort for your breakfast. Mid morning explore the Kaziranga Orchid center. Afternoon go for a jeep safari in the Central range of the park. Return to lodge by dusk and overnight.

 

Day 07: Kaziranga – Itanagar (200 kms / 4 – 5 hrs)

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards Itanagar – the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. On arrival check in to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 08: Itanagar – Ziro (120 kms / 4 hrs)

This morning we shall check out and drive to then drive towards Ziro – the home of the Apatani tribe. On your arrival check into hotel. Overnight.  

 

Day 09: Ziro

After breakfast, we shall visit local museum, emporium and villages inhabited by Apatani tribe. We shall also walk out to the paddy fields to see the unique ‘pisci – culture’ – the villagers breed fish and grow rice in the same plot of land. Overnight in Ziro.

 

Day 10:Ziro

Today we shall spend the day visiting Apatani villages as Hong, Dutta & Hari. In these villages, we shall see the houses of Apatani adjoining each other also interact with the locals and photograph the tattooed elder who still leave a very much traditional life. Later visit the Apatani farms. We shall also visit the local market. Later visit to the local market can be informative about knowing more about Apatani culture, customs, eating habits, attires and ornaments.

 

Day 11:Ziro – Majuli Island (200 kms / 7 hrs + ½ hrs by ferry)

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards ghat, to board ferry to Majuli – the cultural capital of Assam also the world's largest river island. Time permitting visit Anuati sattras (monasteries). Interact with the monks and visit monk’s quarter. Check into hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 12: Mauli Island

This morning we shall visit Mishing tribal village and musk making village. Followed by a visit to pottery making village. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Optional: A cultural dance in Majuli can also be arranged, supplement price will given provided seperatly

Day 13: Majuli – Sibsagar (1 hr by ferry + 55 kms / 1 ½ hrs)

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive to Kamabari Ghat to board ferry to Jorhat and then drive to Sibsagar.

On arrival to Sibasagar – the ancient Ahom kingdom capital. On arrival visit Shiva Dol built by the Ahoms, situated here is believed to be the tallest of all existing Hindu temples. Followed by visit to Rang Ghar - largest and the oldest amphitheatre of Asia is also another remarkable landmark in the history of Sivasagar. Later visit Talat Ghar –has three storeys that are underground (closed for tourists) and four above the ground. The ground floor had store rooms, stables and servant quarters, while the upper floors were for the royal family. We can also visit the “Charideo Maidams” – a place for ancestral gods of the Ahoms, it is the burial ground of kings and queens. Also called the ‘Pyramids of Assam’, the hillocks of Charaideo have tombs (called Maidams) and the place is compared to the Pyramids of Egypt, thus proving to be a splendid example of medieval times. Later check into hotel for overnight stay at Sibsagar.

 

Day 14: Sibsagar – Mon (100 kms / 6 hrs)

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards Mon. On arrival check in to hotel. Overnight.

 

Day 15: Full Day Mon

Morning visit Konyak Villages. Visit their houses, meet the tribesmen, and learn more about Konyak Naga culture. Later on excursion to visit Lungwa Village(approx. 35 kms one way), half of which falls in Myanmar. See local crafts and war trophies. – Local guide mandatory

 

Day 16: Mon – Dibrugarh via Sivsagar (120 kms / 6 hrs)

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards Dibrugarh. On arrival check in to hotel.

The town of Dibrugarh, which is situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, is known as the Tea City of India. Situated far to the north-east, this region is influenced by its proximity to Burma and Tibet, with seemingly endless mountain ranges and a rich tribal history quite different to the rest of India. Put the kettle on: Dibrugarh is the largest tea exporting town in the country.

 

Day 17:Dibrugarh - Calcutta (Kolkata)(Flight)

After breakfast check out and transfer to Dibrugarh airport for flight to Kolkata Airport.

Upon Arrival Transfer to Hotel.

Day 18: Leave Calcutta (Kolkata)(Flight)

After breakfast check out Transfer to Kolkata Airport For Final Departure for onward journey.
